About Me
My name is Lamar Birch Lipford. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology and multiple certifications in crisis intervention and behavioral health. These credentials have helped shape my ability to assess, communicate, and support people in high-pressure, emotionally complex situations.
I’m also a husband, a father of five, and a successful entertainment business owner. Before pursuing a career in therapy, I served 13 years as a police officer in Philadelphia. I joined the department in 2006 at just 20 years old and retired in 2019.
During my time in law enforcement, I encountered the same core issues over and over; trauma, pain, and broken relationships. I began to realize that putting people in jail wasn’t solving the deeper problems. The real battle was not just on the streets, but in the mind, heart, and family. That shift in perspective led me to the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, where I believe I can make a greater impact.
Between raising my children, managing a business, and working in law enforcement, I’ve spent years navigating different personalities, de-escalating conflict, and helping people through crisis. Now, I’m turning that experience into something healing. I’m not here to fight fire with fire anymore. I’m here to help people heal through structure, compassion, and meaningful connection.
