About Me
I received my M.Ed. in Counseling from Eastern Illinois University in 1984, and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University in 1989. I have been a community mental health administrator for five years and worked for thirty-one years in mental health clinical supervision, and twenty-nine years in direct clinical service in Illinois and Indiana.
I have developed and supervised child residential, adolescent crisis, child physical abuse prevention, family reunification, and sexual abuse treatment programs, and participated in the development of an AAMFT accredited M.S. in Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor (MFCC) degree program at the University of San Diego from 1989 to 1991.
Over the course of nineteen years starting in 1991, I have been an Associate Faculty and Coordinator of the MFT and School counseling program, and the Counselor Education Community Counseling Clinic of Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne. I have also Chaired the Professional Studies department.
I am a Past President of the Indiana Association for Marriage Family Therapy (IAMFT), and have been an AAMFT Approved Supervisor since 1990, offering an AAMFT approved supervisor course in California and Indiana from 1991-2013. I hold Indiana licenses in Mental Health and Marriage and Family Therapy . I participated in a small group private practice for marriage, family, and child therapy at the Family Care Center in Fort Wayne for twelve years, and have provided consultations and workshops for a variety of personal and professional contexts.
I joined Capella University in 2010 as a core faculty member in the Marriage and Family Therapy program.
